Four Fishermen Missing In The Thousand Islands Found On The Overturned Ship

The joint SAR team managed to evacuate 4 fishermen who had previously drowned from a ship in the waters around Bokor Island, Thousand Islands, Jakarta.

The four victims were successfully evacuated on Tuesday 7 October. They were found floating on a ship that capsized around Bokor Island.

The four victims who were successfully evacuated safely were Kartani, Wawan, Kacung, and Mamat. They were found safe by local fishermen. Then evacuated by the joint SAR team to Surya Bahari Village.

"The crew who survived have been successfully evacuated and we are trying our best in the search for victims who have not been found," said Head of Operations Section of the Jakarta SAR Office, Akhmad Rizkiansah, Tuesday, October 7, 2025, evening.

The search effort will resume on Wednesday morning. One victim named Udin is still being searched by the joint SAR team.

The search operation was carried out by joint SAR personnel using RBB 01 Jakarta for sweeping in the north of the ship's position, as well as RIB Firefighters conducting searches to the east.

"High waves and strong winds are inhibiting factors in the implementation of operations in the field," he said.

This SAR operation involved joint personnel from various elements, including the Jakarta SAR Office Rescue Team, Mutiara Beach Crew, Untung Java Island Navy Post, Untung Island Pos Polair Java Island, Tanjung Priok VTS, Cituis KSOP, TNI AL Tanjung Kait Post, Pari Island Post Fire Department, Pari Island Transportation Agency, Pari Island Polair, Muara Baru KKP, Untung Jawa Police, and local fishermen.

Previously, the fishing boat sank due to being hit by large waves and strong winds in the waters of Bokor Island on Tuesday morning, October 7, 2025.

As a result of this incident, the initial 8 ships fell into the sea, so a search operation was carried out by the joint SAR team. Currently, data on survivors named Wahyudin (Nahkoda), Imron (23), July, Kartani (30), Wawan (40), Kacung (35) and Mamat (35). Meanwhile, one victim named Udin is still being searched.
