JAKARTA - The Ministry of PUPR (Public Works and Public Housing) targets housing construction in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) to be completed at the end of September 2021.

This house was made as a replacement for the houses of NTT residents which were damaged by the flash floods in early April.

PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono said that reconstruction in areas affected by the floods in NTT was not only rebuilding damaged houses but as an effort to rebuild new settlements that were resilient to disasters.

"The approach is built back better, not just building with the same vulnerability to disasters, but building better and safer than before", Basuki was quoted as saying on the Cabinet Secretariat website, Tuesday, May 18.

This earthquake-resistant house building has a single 36 type. 700 units of this house will be distributed in two areas, namely Lembata Regency and 300 units in East Flores Regency.

This simple healthy instant house (Risha) was built with knock-down construction technology which can be built quickly by using three types of reinforced concrete modules in the main structure.

"After the physical construction of the dwelling is still completed, the next step is to start the settlement process which will be regulated by each regional government", he said.

For information, flash floods hit NTT and parts of NTB on Sunday, April 4 at around 01.00 WITA. This flood was triggered by the appearance of the tropical cyclone Seroja. As of April 18, at least 181 people were declared dead and 48 are still missing.

The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) noted that NTT's flash floods were the worst since the last 10 years. In the past 10 years, there was a big flood in NTT, namely on November 3, 2020, and April 11, 2011.
