Previously, the victim of a beating named Rifai explained that the incident began when he crossed Jalan Raya Tengah and saw a motorcyclist stopping in the middle of the road playing with his cellphone.
"Stop playing with my cellphone, just in the middle of the road, the motorbike, then the current on the right is quite busy, I just honk, then I just live like that," Rifai said when confirmed in Jakarta, Tuesday.
However, the driver was allegedly offended by being called on, and then chased Rifai and scolded him.
Before long, the perpetrator blocked Rifai's motorbike so he was forced to stop. At that time, the perpetrator, who was suspected of being under the influence of alcohol, tried to hit Rifai, but his blow missed.
Tensions escalated when the perpetrator pulled Rifai's hair and dragged it. Rifai had fought back, but the perpetrator called several of his friends who were said to have come from the same mass organization.
As a result of the beating, Rifai suffered injuries to his head and body. He then reported the incident to the Kramat Jati Police for follow-up.
