The West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) High Prosecutor's Office (Kejati) examined the former Head of the NTB Environment and Forestry Service (LHK), Madani Mukarom, regarding the alleged reclamation of a small island in Gili Gede waters, West Lombok Regency.
Spokesperson for the NTB Prosecutor's Office, Efrien Saputera, confirmed that the investigation was still under investigation.
"Yes, the examination is only limited to clarification, being questioned because it is still being investigated," he said in Mataram, Tuesday,
Madani, who was met after an examination at the NTB Prosecutor's Office, confirmed that she was being questioned by the prosecutor regarding the reclamation issue.
"Yes, I'll just tell you in the capacity of the former Head of the NTB LHK Office. That's the status of marine waters, it's a state," said Madani.
He explained that the party that carried out the reclamation, namely Thamarind Resort, had obtained an environmental permit from the provincial government.
"There is an environmental permit, a capital investment office, and a location permit. There is only no management permit yet," he said.
Madani emphasized that the authority of the management permit is not under the Department of Environment and Forestry, but is the responsibility of the Department of Marine Affairs and Fisheries of NTB.
So it's a matter of the management permit in the fisheries office. If I'm only related to the environmental permit," he said.
In addition to providing information, Madani also submitted all documents related to the authority of the NTB LHK Office in issuing recommendations for environmental permits as a condition for submitting to the NTB Investment and One Stop Integrated Service (DPMPTSP).
"I submitted all documents, such as environmental recommendations from the LHK office. The environmental permit has been issued from the 2020 NTB DPMPTSP on behalf of the Governor of NTB," said Madani.
The NTB Prosecutor's Office handled this issue after receiving a report from NTB Corruption Watch (NCW) highlighting allegations of sea reclamation without permission and the construction of a number of illegal piers in the coastal area of West Sekotong Village.
In its report, NCW stated that there were allegations of involvement of a number of regional officials in the reclamation and construction of the dock project.
The reclamation in Gili Gede is said to have reached an area of about 4 are, and NCW suspects that the activity has no legal basis and valid permit.
The NCW report also touched on issues of location permit, environmental approval (AMDAL or UKL-UPL), as well as suitability of sea space use that was allegedly not fulfilled.
In addition, NCW assessed that the construction of a number of piers on the coast of Sekotong Barat Village, which are access to Gili Gede, also has licensing problems.

The institution also included a number of supporting documents in its report to the NTB Prosecutor's Office.
