KPK Secretly Checks West Kalimantan Governor Ria Norsan During Weekend

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) said it had examined the Governor of West Kalimantan (Kalbar) Ria Norsan regarding the alleged corruption of a road project in Mempawah Regency on Saturday, October 4.

KPK spokesman Budi Prasetyo did not announce his examination schedule and immediately conveyed that the inspection had been carried out at the West Kalimantan Police office.

"The examination of RN's brother who currently serves as Governor of West Kalimantan or during the period (time) of the case as Regent of Mempawah was carried out on Saturday, October 4," Budi told reporters in a written statement, Monday, October 6.

During the examination, Budi said, investigators asked Ria Norsan a number of things. Among them are the matter of applying for special allocation funds (DAK).

"The witness has deepened his knowledge of the DAK submission process and the role concerned is related to the construction project for the two roads that the KPK is currently handling," he said.

Meanwhile, Acting Deputy for Enforcement and Execution of the KPK Asep Guntur Rahayu stated that Ria Norsan was open to questioning. Moreover, investigators have searched his private home and the house of the Mempawah Regent Erlina, who is Ria Norsan's wife.

"Then the house of Mr. Gub (Governor of West Kalimantan Ria Norsan) has been searched. That's right. When will the search be carried out. When will we be summoned? We will study this first the results of the search," Asep told reporters at the KPK's Merah Putih building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Wednesday, October 1.

Asep said the results of this search would be the investigator's weapon when examining Ria Norsan. However, he did not specify what the findings were.

"After studying, of course it will be material for us to ask later, yes, regarding what we will ask the Governor," he said.

As previously reported, the KPK is currently investigating allegations of corruption in the improvement of Jalan Sekabuk-Sei Semeram and the work of improving Jalan Sekit Rama-Sei Semeram at the Mempawah District Public Works Office for the 2015 Fiscal Year. The investigation warrant (sprindik) has been issued some time ago.

There are three suspects who have been named but have not been officially submitted. Based on the information obtained, they are Abdurahman as a civil servant; Lutfi Kaharuddin who is an entrepreneur or President Director of PT Aditama Borneo Prima; and Idy Safriadi as a civil servant of Mempawah Regency.

To find evidence, investigators have also searched a number of locations. Among them are the house of West Kalimantan Governor Ria Norsan to the official residence of Mempawah Regent Erlina.

However, the anti-corruption commission has not detailed the results. Investigators are only said to be analyzing and confirming their findings to related parties.
