JAKARTA - Rifai (38), a resident of Central Village, Kramat Jati, East Jakarta, was a victim of persecution by a group of people suspected of being members of a community organization (ormas) on Saturday night, October 4.

The incident began when Rifai crossed Jalan Raya Tengah and saw a motorcyclist stop in the middle of the road playing on his cellphone.

"He stopped playing on his cellphone, in the middle of the road the motorbike. Then the current on the right, it was quite crowded, I just honked, then I continued the journey," said Rifai when confirmed, Monday, October 6.

However, the driver did not accept being called on and immediately chased Rifai.

"Then he was chased and said 'Why do you horns, horns,' I explained, yes, I want to pass, the problem is where, he even said 'how come you challenge me, I am a child of this mass organization'," said Rifai.

Rifai then pulled over after being chased. At that time, the perpetrator stopped with his motorbike until Rifai was forced to stop.

"I was told to move aside, or I didn't want to move aside, he immediately blocked the motorbike again suddenly in the middle of the road, stop. Residents watched me have an argument, so I kissed the perpetrator who smelled alcohol," he explained.

Rifai explained, in the midst of the debate he suddenly wanted to be beaten by the perpetrator. However, continued Rifai, the blow missed.

"Diberalikan, terus saya mau dipampol sama pelaku, mau ditakit tapi ngot. Hanya terkena templeis, tetapi dia malah berteria-lu mau nampol saya yak, kau mau nampol saya yak." ungkapnya.

Not long after, the perpetrator pulled Rifai's hair and dragged it. Rifai also tried to fight back.

"When he pulled my hair for a while, I ended up fighting him. But instead he asked to call his friends to other mass organizations members, there were about seven people," he said.

Rifai thought the people who came were residents who wanted to intervene. But it turned out that they beat him.

"There were three people holding me, I continued to protect my head. Then I was separated across from the corner until I was beaten. My head was targeted by the perpetrators," he added.

As a result of the beating, Rifai suffered injuries to his head and body. He has reported this incident to the Kramat Jati Police for further action.
