KPK Will Check Wealth Reports Of 200 Candidates For Hajj And Umrah Ministry Officials

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) will check the assets reports of state administrators (LHKPN) of hundreds of prospective officials of the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah.

KPK spokesman Budi Prasetyo said checks were carried out to follow up on the request of the Minister of Hajj and Umrah Mochamad Irfan Yusuf or Gus Irfan after holding an audience on Friday, October 3.

"Check compliance in LHKPN reporting if previously an organizer or must report LHKPN," Budi told reporters in a written statement, Monday, October 6.

This method, continued Budi, could determine the commitment of prospective officials in preventing fraudulent practices.

"To see his commitment to eradicating corruption," he said.

Gus Irfan had previously submitted 200 names of prospective officials at the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah. He said this method was to mitigate the occurrence of corruption in the ministry that was just formed by President Prabowo Subianto.

"We also submit the names of several prospective officials who will join the Ministry of Hajj to be tracked so that there are no problems in the future at the Ministry of Hajj," said Gus Irfan to reporters at the KPK's Merah Putih building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta.

"(The total is, red) there are about 200 people. Actually, there are more needs than that, later we will solve the others from other ministries or institutions," he continued.

The name that was submitted, continued Gus Irfan, came from the Directorate General of Hajj and Umrah (PHU) of the Ministry of Religion (Kemenag). The plan is that they will fill a number of positions but not as director generals (Dirjen) at the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah.

"The director-general is not, the director-general is not. We do it internally from our Hajj Organizing Agency and there is one from the college campus," he said.

Gus Irfan hopes that this examination can screen out the best figure. "We held a meeting, examined him, they included, what his name was, their integrity, and after we were deemed to have passed, we handed it over to the KPK to be tracked with their track record," he said.
