Defense Minister Confirms Jokowi Meets Prabowo In Kertanegara

JAKARTA - Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin confirmed that the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo met with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto at the residence of the Head of State on Jalan Kertanegara IV, South Jakarta, Saturday.

Sjafrie said President Prabowo met with Jokowi before the Head of State held a meeting with a number of figures who had services to the nation and state in the same location.

"Yes, before (meeting Jokowi)," Sjafrie told reporters at Monas, Jakarta, Saturday evening.

Sjafrie said that apart from meeting with Jokowi, Prabowo also stayed in touch with a number of national figures in Kertanegara.

Sjafrie said he was also present at the meeting at the President's residence. "Yes (to Kertanegara)," he said.

Previously, it was rumored that Jokowi met Prabowo in Kertanegara IV on Saturday afternoon. The meeting lasted for about two hours, starting at 13.00 WIB. The second meeting was confirmed by Ajudan Jokowi, Kompol Syarif Muhammad Fitriansyah.

"Yes, that's right (Jokowi met Prabowo in Kertanegara)," said Syarif when contacted by ANTARA via text message, Saturday evening.

The previous meeting between Jokowi and Prabowo took place in mid-July. At that time, President Prabowo visited Jokowi's residence in Solo, Central Java, Sunday (20/7).

In the meeting for about 40 minutes, Prabowo told about the state visit for two weeks on July 1-15.

One of them is regarding the Indonesia-EU European Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (I-EU CEPA) which was successfully agreed upon after 10 years of negotiations.

"I told a new story about traveling from abroad. Yes, he also followed it apparently. I told you the breakthroughs we got yesterday, especially with the European Union. 10 years the negotiations finally broke through," said Prabowo.

Prabowo also shared his attendance at the BRICS Summit in Brazil, as well as a meeting with Brazilian President Lula da Silva. Not only that, Prabowo explained a number of bilateral meetings in London, Belgium, France, and Belarus.

The two then continued the meeting by having dinner together. The menu that was eaten was Bakmi Jawa.
