JAKARTA - Indonesia is ready to support the increase in the capacity of Gambia diplomats, when the two countries plan to increase cooperation in a number of fields.
This was discussed at the meeting of Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Gambia, Modou Njie, on the sidelines of a series of the United Nations 80th General Assembly in New York, United States on Monday.
Foreign Minister Modou Njie on this occasion appreciated Indonesia's support, especially when Gambia hosted the High Level Conference on Islamic Cooperation Organizations (OKI).
He also expressed his appreciation for Indonesia's contribution to the education and agriculture sector, including through the establishment of a training center in Gambia.
Furthermore, Foreign Minister Gambia also expressed the desire to increase cooperation with Indonesia in the field of increasing diplomat capacity, military cooperation, and maritime security, especially regarding irregular migration and IUU fishing, as well as exploring the possibility of sending joint peacekeeping troops between Indonesia and Gambia.
"As a faraway neighbor, Indonesia is ready to support the increase in the capacity of Gambia diplomats," said Foreign Minister Sugiono, welcoming the proposal, launching a statement from the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Tuesday, September 30.
"Meanwhile, regarding the proposed cooperation in other fields, it will be followed up together by relevant ministries and institutions in the country," said Foreign Minister Sugiono.
