New Zealand Makes Noise, Drunk Refuses To Pay For Drinks At Restaurant Ubud

DENPASAR - A foreign citizen (WNA) from New Zealand with the initials AJM (50) caused a commotion at a restaurant in the Ubud area, Gianyar Regency, Bali, on Saturday (13/9). AJM is now being detained by the Class I Immigration Office of TPI Denpasar, Bali.

"The team then detained the foreigner in the detention room of the Class I Immigration Office of TPI Denpasar," said Head of the Special TPI Immigration Office for Denpasar, R. Haryo Sakti, Tuesday, September 30.

He explained that the incident began when the Ubud area immigration patrol team received information from the Ubud Police regarding the presence of foreigners who went berserk and were suspected of being drunk at the restaurant. The team immediately went to the location to follow up on the report.

From the restaurant's statement, AJM previously entered the restaurant, ordering drinks.

However, this foreigner did not pay and was expelled. But this New Zealand foreigner came back again and made a fuss at the restaurant.

Furthermore, by the intelligence and enforcement section (Inteljakim) the Class I Immigration Office of TPI Denpasar decided to take AJM to the Denpasar Immigration office, for further investigation.

Arriving at the Denpasar Immigration office, officers checked the data through the immigration system. It is known that AJM is a holder of a limited residence permit (KITAS) or foreign worker (TKA) with the position of director valid from July 28, 2025 to July 28, 2026.

However, because AJM was drunk and did not bring immigration documents when secured, the examination could not be continued.

Haryo Sakti said the foreigner was deemed to have violated Article 75 paragraph (1) of Law Number 6, Year 2011 concerning immigration for disturbing public order. After being temporarily detained, AJM has now been transferred to the Denpasar Immigration Detention Center (Rudenim) since September 17, 2025.

"The plan is that the person concerned will be deported soon," he said.
