Without An Official Explanation, MBG In Tulungagung Stopped

TULUNGAGUNG - Free Nutrition Food Program (MBG) at SMAN 1 Kedungwaru, Tulungagung Regency, East Java was stopped even though it had been running for two weeks since its launch on September 1, 2025.

Deputy Head of Public Relations of SMAN 1 Kedungwaru Andy Chandra Purwonegoro, Monday said that his party received a notification from the MBG program via WhatsApp message at midnight.

"In the short message, it was stated that the supply of MBG was stopped from mid-September. We don't know the reason. The information was only conveyed via WhatsApp at around 23.00 WIB," Andy said as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, September 29.

Andy emphasized that during the two weeks of implementation, food delivery from the SPPG on Jalan Panglima Sudirman ran smoothly and the quality of the dish was good.

"The school canteen is also not disrupted because MBG arrived at around 11.00 WIB. The obstacle is only technical distribution to 1,300 students," he said.

Information that developed, the MBG program at SMAN 1 Kedungwaru was stopped because there had been an incident where a number of beneficiaries experienced a start after eating the menu presented.

However, the issue circulating from mouth to mouth was not confirmed by Andy Chandra.

He only said that the unilateral suspension of the program provider/implementer, without mentioning whether or not there was a problem with the quality of the menu presented.

"This program is actually good. Children are also certainly happy to get a free meal program," he said.

Apart from that, the SPPG (Witness Fulfillment Service Unit) operation in the former Resto Panen building complex was closed until now.

SPPG Panen Resto, which is about 500 meters from SMAN 1 Kedungwaru, is known to be a food provider for 1,300 students at SMAN 1 Kedungwaru.

Monitoring at the SPPG location which occupies the former Panen Restaurant shows the building closed without activity, only two box cars with the BGN logo are seen parked.

There has been no official statement regarding the termination of the service, but the closure automatically stopped the distribution of MBG to surrounding schools, including SMAN 1 Kedungwaru.
