After Denmark, Drones Now Appear In Germany

JAKARTA - Germany's Schleswig-Holstein interior ministry, said a number of drones were seen overnight. It is currently being investigated for possible espionage and sabotage.

"Partly due to recent incidents in Denmark and other European countries, Schleswig-Holstein is conducting close and ongoing consultations with the federal government and the German armed forces," said Schleswig-Holstein Interior Minister

Previously, Denmark stated that the drone that stopped flights at its main airport on Monday was the most serious attack ever to the country's critical infrastructure.

Denmark attributes it to a series of alleged Russian drone attacks and other disruptions across Europe.

Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen said the drone activity appeared to be designed "to disrupt and create riots", although authorities were reluctant to name the perpetrators.

Sightings of two or three major drones near Copenhagen Airport on Monday night suspended all scheduled takeoffs and landings for nearly four hours.

Authorities in Norway also closed airspace at Oslo Airport for three hours after drones were spotted.

The closure at the busiest airports in the Nordic area caused tens of thousands of passengers to be abandoned.

"What we witnessed last night was the most serious attack on Denmark's important infrastructure to date," Frederiksen said.

"We clearly do not rule out any possibility regarding who is behind it and it is clear that this is in line with developments we recently observed regarding other drone attacks, airspace violations, and hacker attacks at European airports," he said.

In his comments to public broadcaster DR. Frederiksen noted that Russia's recent drone attacks on Polish and Romanian airspace, as well as Estonia, which reported Russian fighter jets had entered its airspace on Friday.

"I absolutely cannot deny that it is Russia," he said.
