Online Taxi Driver Killer In Medan Demanded Life Imprisonment

The Public Prosecutor (JPU) of the Medan District Attorney, North Sumatra, charged the defendant Fadli (45) who killed an online taxi driver with a life sentence.

"Requesting that the panel of judges sentence the defendant Fadli to life imprisonment," said Public Prosecutor Novalita Endang Suryani Siahaan at the Medan District Court (PN), quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, September 25.

Public Prosecutor Novalita assessed that the defendant, who is a resident of Medan Tuntungan Subdistrict, Medan City, had fulfilled the elements of a premeditated murder crime and was found guilty in accordance with Article 340 of the Criminal Code.

After listening to the reading of the prosecution's demands, Chief Judge Napitupulu gave the defendant the opportunity to submit a memorandum of defense or plea.

"The trial was postponed and continued on Thursday (2/10), with the agenda of a memorandum of defense or plea from the defendant and his legal advisor," said Hakim Right.

Public Prosecutor Novalita in the indictment stated that this case began on Sunday (23/2) at around 15.00 WIB when the defendant planned a robbery by ordering an online taxi.

"At that time, the defendant Fadli prepared a knife that had been honed to carry out his action," said Public Prosecutor Novalita.

Then at around 19.00 WIB the defendant ordered an online taxi with the starting point of Jalan Bunga Pariama, Medan Tuntungan District, to Jalan Eka Rasmi, Medan Johor District.

"The victim picked up the defendant using a mini bus. While on the way the defendant suddenly took out a knife and immediately killed the victim until he died," he said.

After the victim died, the defendant drove the victim's car to Kutalimbaru, Deli Serdang Regency, and dumped the victim's body.

The defendant Fadli then contacted a man named Halda (DPO) to sell the stolen car for Rp. 25 million. But the transaction was canceled because the car still had blood on it.

"Right on Monday (24/2) at around 19.00 WIB, police officers managed to arrest the defendant and the evidence," said Novalita.
