Ayatollah Khamenei Affirms Negotiations With The US Are Not Beneficial

JAKARTA - Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said negotiations with the United States would not benefit Tehran. Negotiations said he would be deadlocked.

In the message footage, Khamenei also said Iran would not "hand over to pressure" over uranium enrichment and he reiterated Tehran's long-standing official position that they did not need nuclear weapons and had no intention of producing them.

Most recently, the United Nations Security Council (DK PBB) did not adopt a draft resolution to permanently lift sanctions against Iran.

Tehran and major European countries still have eight days to try and agree on a delay.

The 15-member UN Security Council is required to vote on the draft resolution on Friday, September 19, after Britain, France, and Germany began the 30-day process on August 28 to reimpose UN sanctions.

The European trio aka E3 accused Tehran of failing to comply with the 2015 deal with major countries aimed at preventing it from developing nuclear weapons. Iran denies having this intention.

Russia, China, Pakistan, and Algeria voted in support of the draft text on Friday. Nine members rejected it, while two abstained.

The Security Council's vote has now prepared intense diplomacy for a week while world leaders including Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian are now in New York to attend the UN's high-level annual General Assembly.

Britain, France, and Germany have offered to delay the re-implementation of sanctions for up to six months to provide space for negotiations on long-term deals over Tehran's nuclear program.

Delays can be made if Iran restores access to UN nuclear inspectors, overcomes concerns about enriched uranium stocks, and engages in negotiations with the United States.

"Without the fulfillment of these most basic conditions, there is no clear way to get a quick diplomatic solution. We regret Iran has so far failed to take these steps, and we urge them to act now," said Britain's Ambassador to the United Nations, Barbara Woodward, told the Security Council.

"We are ready for further engagement, diplomatically, next week, and beyond, to seek to resolve differences," he continued.
