AMBON - The Maluku Regional Police (Polda) have arrested 17 Brimob (Mobile Brigade) officers from Company 3, Battalion B Bula, East Seram Regency (SBT) following the assault of Abdul Haji Rumaday (30) and his family at Tikus Beach, SBT, on September 22, 2025.

First Inspector Fadli Hasan, Deputy Commander of the 3rd Battalion B Pioneer Mobile Brigade Corps (Satbrimob), Maluku Regional Police, apologized to the public, especially the victim's family, for the incident, which tarnished the police's image.

"We deeply regret this. We sincerely apologize to the victim's family," said Fadli, as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, September 24.

Fadli explained that the incident began with a disturbance at a party. While his team was trying to resolve the issue with the local Youth Leader, the situation suddenly escalated and spiraled out of control.

"While we were coordinating, an incident like this suddenly occurred. Hopefully, we can communicate with all parties so the situation can return to normal quickly," he said.

He emphasized that the 17 Brimob members suspected of involvement, either directly or simply at the location, are currently awaiting direction from the Maluku Regional Police Mobile Brigade Commander regarding further proceedings.

"We have everything under control. We leave the decision to our leadership," he said.

According to him, strict sanctions will be imposed on personnel found guilty after the internal investigation is completed.

"There will definitely be sanctions, but everything is based on the process. We are waiting for the results," said Fadli.
