Prabowo At The UN Summit: It's Time For The World To Recognize Palestine Now

JAKARTA - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto emphasized that the two-state solution is the only way toPalestinian-Israeli peace. At the United Nations Two-State Solutions Summit, New York, Monday, September 22, he called for a halt to the war in Gaza and stressed the recognition of Palestine as the responsibility of world history.

"Recognition of the Palestinian state is a step on the right side of history. To those who are still hesitant to act, we say history will not stop. We must recognize Palestine now," Prabowo said in a statement at the summit.

The President stated that Indonesia condemns all forms of violence against civilians in Gaza.

The Head of State stressed that this meeting was a momentum to take responsibility for history, which is not only related to the fate of Palestine, but also to Israel's future as well as the credibility of the United Nations.

The President emphasized that the two-state solution is the only way to peace for Palestine.

Prabowo also highlighted the importance of stopping the humanitarian disaster in Gaza and making stopping the war a top priority.

"We must stop the humanitarian disaster in Gaza. Ending the war must be our top priority. We must overcome hatred, fear, and suspicion. We must achieve the peace needed for families, mankind," said Prabowo.

The President also expressed Indonesia's readiness to take part in the journey to peace, including by sending peacekeepers.

"Represent peace immediately. We need peace. Thank you very much," concluded Prabowo.

A total of 33 delegation leaders representing countries and state associations such as the European Union and the Arab League, spoke at the Palestinian summit and a two-state solution in New York on Monday.

During the summit, Prabowo was accompanied by Minister of Foreign Affairs Sugiono, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, Minister of Investment and Downstreaming Rosan Perkasa Roeslani, Minister of Human Rights Natalius Pigai, and Permanent Deputy of the Republic of Indonesia for the United Nations Umar Hadi.
