Free Nutritious Food Menu Provider Kitchen In Garut Temporarily Closed After Hundreds Of Students Were Poisoned

GARUT Garut Regent, West Java, Abdusy Syakur Amin stated that the kitchen providing the Free Nutrition Food menu (MBG) which is suspected to be the cause of hundreds of poisoned students being temporarily closed.

"Yes, being accused means being temporarily closed," the Regent told reporters in Garut, Antara, Monday, September 22.

The MBG program is completely under the authority of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), while local governments are only beneficiaries.

"Everything starts from the establishment permit, then also the supervision, it is still being controlled by BGN," he said.

Abdusy Syakur said the MBG kitchen or the Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG) in Kadungora District which serves food for students is now not operating while waiting for the results of the food sample laboratory test.

The Garut Regency Government has handled all students who experience symptoms of food poisoning. The Garut District Health Office team has also tested food samples to determine the cause of the poisoning.

"I can't guess either," said the Regent.

He emphasized that the MBG program is a central government policy to meet the nutritional needs of the community, especially children in schools, so it must be carried out safely and healthily.

"What is certain is that we want to guarantee, this is the government's need, Mr. President, must run safely, smoothly, importantly, and also safely and healthily," he said.

Previously, the Garut Health Office said that the total number of students who experienced symptoms of food poisoning reached 657 people, 19 of whom were treated at health facilities and have now recovered.

This incident started with complaints from a number of students such as dizziness, nausea, and vomiting after eating MBG food at their school 'MA Maarif Cilageni, SMA Siti Aisyah, SMP Siti Aisyah, and SDN 2 Mandalasari in Kadungora District on Tuesday (16/9). The condition of the students worsened on Wednesday (18/9) until they were taken to a local health facility.
