Today Mount Lewotobi Men Eruptive, Embedding 3 Times Volcanic Ash

JAKARTA - Mount Lewotobi Male, located in Wulanggitang District, East Flores Regency (Flotim) East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), erupted three times today, Sunday, September 21.

Based on information issued by the Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG), the Geological Agency, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) quoted from Antara, the eruption on Sunday occurred at 07.22 WITA, at 08.23 WITA, and at 09.01 WITA.

In the first eruption, the height of the ash column was observed to be approximately 800 meters above the peak or about 2,384 meters above the peak. The ash column was observed to be gray with moderate intensity leaning towards the southwest.

This eruption was recorded on a seismogram with a maximum amplitude of 29.6 mm and a duration of approximately one minute 36 seconds.

Furthermore, in the second eruption, the height of the ash column was also observed to be approximately 800 meters above the peak or about 2,384 meters above the peak.

The ash column is observed to be gray with thin intensity leaning towards the southwest.

The eruption was recorded on a seismogram with a maximum amplitude of 44.4 mm and a duration of approximately one minute 17 seconds.

In the third eruption, the height of the ash column was observed to be approximately 700 meters above the peak or about 2,284 meters above the peak.

The ash column is observed to be gray with moderate intensity leaning towards the southwest and west.

The eruption was recorded on a seismogram with a maximum amplitude of 44.4 mm and a duration of approximately one minute 16 seconds.

Meanwhile, currently Mount Lewotobi Male is at Level IV (Awas) Status. Therefore, the public and visitors are advised not to carry out any activities within a six km radius and the south-southwest sector of seven km from the epicenter of Mount Lewotobi Laki.

The public is also advised to be calm and follow the directions of the local government and not to believe in issues whose sources are unclear.

Furthermore, the community around Mount Lewotobi Male is asked to be aware of the potential for rain lava flooding in rivers that originate at the top of Mount Lewotobi Men in the event of high-intensity rain, especially the areas of Dulipali Village, Padang Pasir, Nobo, Nujulen, Klatanlo, Hokeng Jaya, Boru, and Nawakote.
