The Bogor Regency Government has implemented relaxation of the operating hours of mining trucks in Parung Panjang and its surroundings during the road repair project in the eastern region of Bogor Regency.
This was stated by the Head of the Bogor Regency Transportation Service, Bayu Ramawanto, after a coordination meeting on conflict handling due to the operation of a mining truck led directly by Bogor Regent Rudy Susmanto.
Relaxation was implemented because a number of strategic roads were being repaired simultaneously by the Bogor Regency Government and the West Java Provincial Government. This condition makes the capacity of the route decrease significantly and has the potential to cause severe congestion.
Empty trucks are allowed to pass at 09.00 a.m. and 13.00 p.m. local time. Meanwhile, loaded trucks can only operate at 22.00 p.m. local time.
"This relaxation is temporary until December, adjusting the road construction period. If it is not regulated, all vehicles can accumulate and be paralyzed," said Bayu quoting Antara.
He added that the repaired lane was not carried out in a full lane, but took turns left-right, making the segment narrower.
"If it is fully opened for filled and empty trucks, there will be stuck disturbing the community," he said.
Relaxation was also decided by considering safety factors. The Leuwiranji Bridge, which was previously an alternative route, was completely closed because the results of the PUPR Service's study stated that it was not feasible to cross heavy vehicles.
"If forced, it is still used, the risk is fatal. The bridge can collapse and cause casualties. Therefore it is directed to the main route of Parungpanjang," explained Bayu.
The Department of Transportation has alerted additional personnel to oversee the implementation of the policy. To take action against violations, the Transportation Agency coordinates with the police.
The Regional Secretary of Bogor Regency, Ajat Rochmat Jatnika, said that this development was part of 13 segments that were repaired in parallel.

There are about 17 kilometers that are being worked on, six kilometers of which are by the province. So the relaxation of the afternoon is a temporary solution," he said.
According to Ajat, without relaxation during the day, long queues of mining trucks could hinder the mobility of residents.
"If everything accumulates, the community's economy can be paralyzed. Therefore, a compromise point is sought with the arrangement of the clock," he said.
This relaxation is expected to balance the interests of mining entrepreneurs and the needs of the community. The government emphasized that the regulation was temporary, and after the repair was completed the road would again follow the full applicable Regent Regulation.
"The most important thing is that the safety and smooth mobility of the community is maintained until construction is completed," concluded Ajat.
Bogor Police Chief AKBP Wikha Ardilestanto said the police were ready to assist with security in the field.
"We will deploy personnel at vulnerable points so that the situation remains under control," he said.
