JAKARTA - The appointment of Inspector General of Police Amur Chandra Juli Buana as Head of the International Relations Division (Kadivhubinter) of the National Police was welcomed by various parties.
With a brilliant track record and experience in the field of international cooperation, the public has high hopes that the Divhubinter under its leadership can take firm action in resolving cases of cross-border fugitives.
The appointment of Inspector General Amur Chandra, who previously served as Deputy Chief of Police of North Sulawesi, was considered the right step by the National Police Chief in filling this strategic position.
One of the cases awaiting completion is the arrest of fugitive Red Notice from Malaysia, Mohammed Shaheen Shah bin Mohd Sidek, otherwise known as Dato Seri Mohd Shaheen, owner of the Riyaz Group, a group of companies in the field of hospitality and tourism.
The case that ensnared Dato Seri Mohd Shaheen began with a police report in October 2022 by PT Golden Dewata on the alleged embezzlement case worth tens of billions of rupiah.
He was on the People's Wanted List (DPO) against him in November 2022.
President Director of PT Golden Dewata, Feric Setiawan revealed, the experience of Inspector General Amur Chandra as Secretary of NCB-Interpol Indonesia and his involvement in handling international cybercrime cases shows his capability in dealing with cross-border criminal networks.
Feric assessed that this public trust is a strong capital for Inspector General Amur Chandra to bring the Divhubinter to be more proactive and effective.
"Therefore, we as victims have asked Inspector General Amur Chandra to prioritize the arrest of Dato Seri Mohd Shaheen, who has been a fugitive from the Bali Police since November 2022. With his status as a fugitive for Red Notice, the handling of this case is now under the coordination of the Police Divhubinter," said Feric in a written message, Thursday (18/9/2025).
Feric assessed that the success of arrests would be clear evidence of the Police's commitment to enforcing the law, especially against international criminals who harm many parties in Indonesia.
"This decisive step is expected to provide justice for the victims. Confirmation of the fugitive Red Notice will also strengthen the credibility of the National Police in the eyes of international law enforcement agencies, especially Interpol," he said.
The case against Dato Seri Mohd Shaheen began with a police report in October 2022 by PT Golden Dewata.
He was reported to the Bali Police on suspicion of embezzlement and fraud with a loss of around Rp. 89 billion.
Allegedly, the funds were embezzled by Dato Seri Mohd Shaheen and his colleagues.
After a series of ignored investigations and summons, the Bali Police issued a People's Wanted List (DPO) against him in November 2022.
To facilitate the search for fugitives abroad, the Bali Police submitted a request for the issuance of Red Notice through the National Police Divhubinter to the central Interpol.
Dato Seri Mohd Shaheen had filed a pretrial at the Denpasar District Court, but was rejected by the judge in April 2023.
In August 2023, he was also reported to Polda Metro Jaya in connection with a similar case, adding to the length of the list of cases that ensnared him.
With these facts, the public now has high hopes for Inspector General Amur Chandra to take concrete action immediately.
"The arrest of Dato Seri Mohd Shaheen will be a significant step in upholding justice and proving that the law in Indonesia is indiscriminate, even against fugitives hiding abroad," said Feric.
