21 KN Adhara Crew In Bintan Contracted COVID-19, Isolated On Board

TANJUNG PINANG - A total of 21 crew members of the Adhara Navigation Ship that docked at the Port of Navigation Office, Kijang, East Bintan, Bintan Regency, Riau Islands contracted COVID-19.

Bintan Health Department Chief A.F. Isnaeni said the entire crew was still undergoing isolation on the ship.

"It will be handled by Health Department Riau Islands to be taken to the Riau Islands Education Quality Assurance Agency (LPMP) Building in Bintan. They will be isolated in that building," he was quoted as saying by Antara, Friday, May 14.

Meanwhile, The Head of Tanjungpinang-Bintan Port Health Office, Agus Jamaluddin, said the LPMP Riau Islands Building in Mintan was full so that other alternatives should be sought so that KN Adhara crew and cadets could undergo self-quarantine.

Based on the direction of the Riau Island COVID-19 Handling Task Force, 21 crew and cadets of KN Adhara will undergo self-quarantine at Galang Infection Special Hospital, Batam.

But since Friday afternoon, the Riau Island COVID-19 Handling Task Force difficulty getting a fast boat to bring the crew to Batam.

"We have been coordinating with the Head of Riau Islands Transportation Agency. If today does not get a fast ship to carry the crew of the ship, then the entire ship belongs to the Provincial Government of Riau Islands will transport the crew and cadets KN Adhara", he said.

Agus also urged the public to consistently implement health protocols, especially during activities.
