Snatched, Grandma In Denpasar Dies Falling From Motorcycle

South Denpasar Police revealed a case of violent theft (curas) that killed an elderly woman in the Panjer area, South Denpasar District, Denpasar City.

Police have named one suspect in the mugging of a person

a grandmother named Erna Pujiastuti (71). The victim died while being snatched on Jalan Tukad Pancoran, South Denpasar District, Denpasar City, Bali, Saturday (6/9).

"The victim was rushed to Prof. Ngoerah Hospital, Denpasar, but his life could not be saved," said South Denpasar Deputy Chief of Police, AKP Gede Suardika, Wednesday, September 17.

The perpetrator of the mugging with the initials MZ (26) grabbed the victim's motorbike at the scene. The perpetrator pulled the victim's bag until it fell from his motorbike.

This incident was investigated by the police to arrest the perpetrator at the Jalan Tukad Petanu boarding house, Denpasar.

"The perpetrator was arrested at his boarding house, after the (police) team conducted an investigation from CCTV footage. The motive was economic problems," he added.

From the hands of the perpetrators, the police secured evidence in the form of 2 motorbikes, bags, wallets containing Rp169 thousand in cash, clothes, and cell phones.

For his actions, the perpetrator MZ was charged with Article 365 paragraph (3) of the Criminal Code in conjunction with Article 53 paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code or Article 359 of the Criminal Code concerning theft with violence which resulted in death with a maximum threat of 15 years in prison.
