Police Reveal Working Hours Of A Gang Of Robbers In Matraman Who Use Homemade And Machete Firearms

East Jakarta Metro Police dismantled the mode of motor vehicle theft network (curanmor) operating by scaring victims using homemade firearms.

"We also need to convey that the perpetrators usually operate with homemade firearms and machetes. That's what makes the action very disturbing," said East Jakarta Metro Police Criminal Investigation Unit Head AKBP Dicky Fertoffan in Jakarta, Wednesday.

Dicky said the perpetrators usually act in the morning until the afternoon, from 09.00 WIB to 15.00 WIB.

"These perpetrators usually operate, namely in the morning between 09.00 WIB and 15.00 WIB. They carry their weapons, both homemade firearms," said Dicky.

This dangerous action was carried out by the perpetrators in a number of areas in Jakarta. Based on police records, this gang has committed theft dozens of times in the last six months.

The East Jakarta area is the most locations with around 30 incidents, followed by South Jakarta five times, and Central Jakarta three times.

The firearms (senpi) were initially secured three, but after further investigation which is assembled by only one, the other two are toy weapons.

"According to the suspect's confession, they have only been operating for six months. However, the number of cases has been dozens and we are still developing it for other possible crime scenes (TKP)," explained Dicky.

The gang of motorcycle thieves based in a rented house on Jalan Asem Gede, Utan Kayu Selatan, Matraman, East Jakarta stole up to tens of motorbikes in a day.

"Approximately every day there are ten motorbikes from these five perpetrators, per pair it can metik (take) three stolen motorbikes," said East Jakarta Metro Police Ranmor Head, AKP Muhammad Zein.

They usually act in a number of areas in Jakarta with different roles. According to Zein, the perpetrators acted in pairs with alternate roles, both as executors and jockeys.

While in action, they used the T key to break into a motorcycle locked by a handlebar.

Five people were arrested, four were named suspects and one was a child in conflict with the law (ABH).

Four people act as executors or jockeys for motorcycle theft. They are MG (ABH), EW, SR, and MR. While one other suspect, with the initials T, was tasked with changing the appearance of the stolen motorbike before being resold.

The suspects were charged with two alternative articles, namely Article 363 of the Criminal Code concerning theft by weight, the threat of a sentence of up to seven years in prison.

Then the Emergency Law related to gun ownership carries a penalty of more than 10 years.
