The United Nations Commission Declares Israel To Do Genocide In Gaza

JAKARTA - The United Nations investigative commission concluded on Tuesday that Israel committed genocide in the Gaza Strip, Palestine and senior Israeli officials, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, had incited these actions.

The commission cites examples including murder scales, aid barriers, forced transfers, and destruction of fertility centers to support their genocide findings, adding their opinions to human rights groups and others who have reached the same conclusion.

"Genosida is taking place in Gaza," said Navi Pillay, chairman of the Independent International Investigation Commission for the occupied Palestinian Territory who is also a former judge of the International Criminal Court, quoted from WAFA Sept. 16.

"The responsibility for this horrific crime rests with the Israeli authorities at the highest level, who have led a genocide campaign for nearly two years with the sole goal of eliminating Palestinians in Gaza," he added.

The latest conflict in the Gaza Strip broke out on October 7, 2023, when a Palestinian militant group led by Hamas attacked Israel's southern region, killing about 1,200 people and another 251 being held hostage, according to Israeli calculations.

Israel responded to this by carrying out airstrikes, blockades and land operations. The conflict was temporarily halted from January 19 to March 18, when both sides agreed on a ceasefire mediated by Egypt, Qatar and the United States.

On Tuesday, medical sources in the Gaza Strip announced the death toll from Israeli aggression in the Gaza Strip had risen to 64,964 and 165,312 people injured, since October 7, 2023.

That figure includes those who died while seeking help who had reached 2,497 people and 18,294 others injured.

Also included those who died from hunger and malnutrition who had reached 428 people, of which 146 were their children.
