JAKARTA - A man who stole the grounding cable on the Padalarang Front Line - Tegalluar was arrested by KCIC security officers. This arrest was made after officers carried out routine patrols at the location.

General Manager of KCIC Corporate Secretary, Eva Chairunisa said, when officers were on patrol at KM 114+300, Jalan Tipar Barat, West Bandung Regency, officers found suspicious persons and were carrying sacks.

After being examined, the perpetrator carried a sack containing 51 pieces of grounded cable with a length of 35 cm, 3 pieces of grounding cable with a length of 70 cm, 1 right key, and 1 cutter knife.

The grounding cable is part of the sound barrier fence and functions as a safety for electrical installations to channel lightning to the ground so that it can protect the high-speed train infrastructure and operating system.

"Based cable components have a vital function, one of which is to protect the network from lightning strikes and electrical disturbances. If it is stolen, it is not only materially detrimental and has the potential to disrupt operational security and safety, but can also endanger others around the track due to being hit by high voltage electric shocks," Eva said when confirmed, Tuesday, September 16, 2025.

The theft of grounding cables in the electric system of high-speed trains is a very dangerous measure for the operations of railway infrastructure.

The reason is, the theft of this cable can potentially disrupt the safety and safety of travel.

"The handling of this case is very serious and there must be legal sanctions for the perpetrators," he said.

The perpetrator was then secured and handed over along with evidence to the Padalarang Police for further legal action.

Eva said the incident refers to Article 362 of the Criminal Code, which states: Anyone who takes something entirely or partly belonging to someone else with the intention of being illegally owned, is threatened with theft with a maximum imprisonment of five years or a maximum fine of nine hundred rupiahs.
