Difficulty Officers Put Out Fires In Senen, Narrow Road And Lack Of Water Sources

JAKARTA A fire engulfed a dense settlement on Jalan Moh Soleh 1, RT 04/06, Kramat Village, Senen District, Central Jakarta, on Monday (15/9/2025) afternoon. Six houses were burned down and at least 10 families with 17 people were affected.

Central Jakarta Gulkarmat Sub-dept. admitted that they faced a big challenge during the blackout process. Road access to a narrow location makes it difficult for fire engines to enter, while the availability of water sources around the location is also very limited.

"We deployed 17 cars with 85 personnel. But in the field there are obstacles, water sources are far away and road access is narrow. That makes the blackout process take longer," said Head of Central Jakarta Gulkarmat Sub-dept., Asril Rizal.

Before the officers arrived, residents had tried to extinguish the fire with makeshift equipment such as buckets and tubs filled with water, but the flames grew bigger.

The fire was successfully extinguished after officers struggled to overcome the limitations of the facilities. The burned area is estimated to reach 170 square meters.

"The cause of the fire is suspected to be an electrical short circuit. There were no casualties, but material losses are estimated at around Rp. 240 million," said Asril.
