Motorcycle Thief And Collector Arrested After Selling Yamaha NMAX IDR 5 Million

JAKARTA - The motorcycle theft network in Central Jakarta was successfully rolled up by the Tanah Abang Metro Police Criminal Investigation Unit. The police arrested two perpetrators who acted as executors of theft and motorcycle collectors.

"The arrest of two suspects, namely R (26) as the perpetrator of the theft and M (39) as the collector," said Central Jakarta Metro Police Chief, Kombes Susatyo Purnomo Condro when confirmed, Monday, September 15, 2025.

The arrest began when there were reports of the theft of a green Yamaha NMAX motorbike and a white RSV brand helem. Then the Tanah Abang Metro Police conducted an investigation and managed to arrest the two perpetrators.

"Currently the suspect is still under investigation for further legal proceedings," he said.

The confiscated evidence was in the form of a stolen motorbike, a stolen helem and a transaction that was sold by a motorbike.

Meanwhile, the Tanah Abang Metro Police Chief, Kompol Haris Akhmad Basuki added, the modus operandi of the perpetrators was to take an unlocked motorbike and then sell it through a collector at a price of Rp. 5 million.

"Investigations are also still ongoing to find other suspects who are still on the wanted list (DPO). We urge the public to remain vigilant and always lock the vehicle safely," said Kompol Haris when confirmed.

For his actions, the suspect with the initials R violated Article 362 of the Criminal Code (KUHP) regarding theft, which threatened the perpetrator with a maximum imprisonment of five years.

Meanwhile, the suspect with the initials M violated Article 480 of the Criminal Code concerning detention, with a maximum prison sentence of four years.
