Laundry Gas Cylinder In Kemayoran Explodes, 2 Injured

JAKARTA - A gas cylinder used as steam at a laundry or laundry site in the Boing Flats, Kemayoran, Central Jakarta, suddenly exploded on Friday, September 12, 2025.

A pedestrian who passed by the scene became the victim of an explosion and suffered injuries all over his body. The victim was hit by fragments of the building where the laundry was. The victim was then evacuated to the hospital.

Meanwhile, an employee of the laundry was shocked by the devastating explosion.

Arweni, an eye witness to the incident, said the explosion began when a laundry worker was using a clothing pelicin steam engine.

"Mbak is reading Iqro again, suddenly it immediately collapsed nindin (hit) me. The tube that exploded at the laundry business," Arweni told reporters, Friday, September 12, 2025.

In addition to causing casualties, this explosion also destroyed two houses in the flat.

"The location of the incident was a laundry business. There was one employee and one person passed by one was hit by broken glass," he said.

The injured victim has been taken to the hospital for intensive treatment. Meanwhile, the case is still under investigation by the Kemayoran Police.
