Tragedy In The Rawa Malang River, Jakut, Eretan Boat Officer Falls And Disappears

JAKARTA The atmosphere in the Rawa Malang River, Sawah Village, Semper Timur, North Jakarta, suddenly touched on Thursday afternoon. A row boat officer, Slamet Rahardjo (23), reportedly drowned after falling into the river while carrying out his duties.

According to the officer's statement, Slamet was seen in an unwell condition before the incident occurred. At around 12.30 WIB, when he was about to operate the boat, he fell with his head first into the water. Since then, his body has no longer surfaced.

His colleagues who were at the location tried to help by diving and looking around the river. However, their efforts were fruitless. The four friends of the victim were looking at the location, but they didn't succeed. They then contacted the officers," said Head of North Jakarta Gulkarmat and Thousand Islands, Gatot Sulaeman.

A rescue team of 21 personnel was immediately deployed using four fire engines and rescues. The search process has been going on since 14.30 WIB. Although efforts have been made, until 17.20 WIB, Slamet has not been found.

The search operation has been temporarily suspended and will resume on Friday (12/9).

At a very young age, Slamet is known as a diligent and dedicated figure at work. Now, his family and colleagues can only wish him a miracle and pray that he will be found soon.
