The Mastermind Of The August End Of Riots Is Still Mysterious, Prabowo Is Asked To Form A TGPF Immediately

JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto was urged to form a credible joint fact-finding team (TGPF) to uncover the mastermind behind the riots in various places at the end of last August. Allegations of treason and involvement of foreign parties must be investigated to provide a sense of security for the community.

"In-depth clarification and investigation are needed so that the series of riots are clearly clarified as to who is the mastermind, how the operation takes place, what are the political goals, and so on," said Chairman of the National Council of the Setara Institute, Hendardi in a written statement, Monday, September 8.

"In that context, President Prabowo or the Government must immediately form a credible TGPF to reveal true facts, find patterns of movement and separate the delivery of democratic aspirations and freedom of expression in public which is guaranteed by the state constitution from the covert political agendas that ride them," he continued.

Hendardi said the public has the right to know about events at the end of last August. Thus, the government must fulfill openness by cooperating with experts, civil society, academics, religious leaders, media workers, law enforcement officers and other relevant civil elements.

"TGPF can be the basis for ensuring the public's right to know the event and creating an authentic sense of security," he stressed.

In addition, providing a sense of security for the community is also a way for the government to maintain a conducive situation. Because, said Hendardi, the public has speculation about the political contestation of power and the regime's political agenda in the riots.

Meanwhile, the government said that this action was indicated as part of treason and terrorism. In fact, foreign parties are also accused of playing an escalation at the domestic level.

"Disclosure of data and facts is a cooling down system mechanism from public anger that must run simultaneously with fundamental agendas that must be carried out by the government and political elites," concluded Hendardi.
