Response To Student Proposal Regarding The Establishment Of An Investigation Team, DPR Leaders Make Sure To Guard

JAKARTA - Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Cucun Ahmad Syamsurijal responded to student proposals related to the formation of an investigation team against the demonstration, especially regarding the alleged treason mentioned by President Prabowo Subianto. Cucun said that the formation of the team was a main task force from the government.

"The proposal to form an investigative team of all kinds, just now Prof (Dasco) has conveyed which one will be done and the main task is later in the government," said Cucun when receiving 16 student organizations at the DPR building, Senayan, Jakarta, Wednesday, September 3.

Previously, the University of Indonesia Student Executive Board (BEM UI) requested that an investigation team be formed regarding the alleged treason mentioned by President Prabowo Subianto. As well as thoroughly investigating the case of provocation to the death of an online motorcycle taxi driver, Affan Kurniawan during a demonstration on Thursday, August 28.

Nevertheless, Cucun said the leadership of the DPR would convey to the government the proposal. As a supervisory function, said Cucun, the DPR will follow up on the team by supervising it through Commission III of the DPR in partnership with the Indonesian Police (Polri).

"Friends and friends, we will convey later and we will hear whether there is an investigation team or not. But the supervisory function is inherent in all of us in the DPR, so with this aspiration in accordance with the proposals, AKD will follow up on the commission that handled his partners earlier," explained Cucun.

"If we monitor the police officers in commission III, we will have supervision in the DPR," continued the Deputy Speaker of the DPR for the Korkesra sector.

"Earlier, Prof. Dasco said that as of August 31, all of us, in accordance with what has been followed up, the results of the meeting between the President, the leadership of the DPR and the leaders of political parties have all agreed. So on today's occasion what our friends have said will follow up, and later the faction leaders will follow up and convey this socialization," he said.

"So that all the decisions taken by the leadership regarding members are known," added the member of the PKB faction.

Cucun also expressed his condolences for the loss of life and injuries in the demonstration which was held from August 25 to August 31, 2025.

"As the leadership of the DPR, we express our condolences for our brother Affan (the ojol driver who was run over by Rantis Brimob), who was the victim of yesterday's incident. Also those who are still in the hospital, may Allah give them a speedy recovery, God Almighty," he concluded.
