DPR Coordinates With Police About Requests For Freed Demonstrators

JAKARTA - Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, said that he would coordinate with the police regarding the request for demonstrators or students who were arrested by the authorities to be released.

"We will coordinate with the police that we will see cases per case," said Dasco after responding to the aspirations of a number of student organizations, Wednesday, September 3.

The request was submitted by a number of student representatives during the hearing.

According to him, the DPR will also communicate about the release of demonstrators but only those who are proven to have carried out anarchism during the demonstration.

"This is outside the act of anarchic acts that are proven," he said.

Meanwhile, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Saan Mustopa, emphasized that during the demonstration that took place some time ago, there were people who really expressed their aspirations, and some were rioters.

Saan will also ask the police to sort out demonstrators and rioters, especially to the National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo. If there are demonstrations that do not riot, Saan asks the police to immediately release them.

On the other hand, Saan will also ask the police for an explanation regarding the type of violation committed by the rioters.

"If it is not too much and is purely a demonstration, later we will ask for a trial to be slowly issued. We will try to communicate as soon as possible," said Saan.
