Kiosk Traders In Blok M Lift Their Feet Due To Expensive Rentals, Pramono Reprimands MRT's Managing Director

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung responded to the problem of a number of kiosk traders in the Blok M District area who were busy leaving due to the increasingly expensive rental costs.

Pramono admitted that the location was managed by one of the cooperatives in collaboration with PT MRT Jakarta as the manager of Blok M Hub.

"To trade Blok M, there is indeed cooperation between MRT and one of the cooperatives there," said Pramono at DKI Jakarta City Hall, Wednesday, September 3.

Initially in the cooperation, the MRT had agreed on an upper limit and a lower limit for kiosk rental rates in the area. However, Pramono also did not understand why the rental price collected was more than the set fee.

"So that I have reprimanded the president director of the MRT, if the cooperation cannot be carried out, then I ask to be canceled," said Pramono.

The former Cabinet Secretary emphasized that the DKI Provincial Government will prioritize the needs of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) on this issue.

Managers are not allowed to take advantage of the many visitors to Blok M to increase the rental price. So, if it is burdensome, Pramono's traders ask the MRT to revoke management cooperation in the area.

"It's not allowed then when people who come to Blok M Rame, then the manager or co-operation that manages it increases it arbitrarily. So if it can't be brought under control I ask for it to be canceled, it's better to manage it alone," said Pramono.

"For me personally, MSMEs are a priority so that they can run their business well. This economy is currently stretched in Blok M, it's good. So if you can't, just cancel it and manage it yourself. There's no need to use cooperation," he continued.
