JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicts that most parts of Indonesia will potentially experience rain of varying intensity on Tuesday, September 2, ranging from light rain to thunderstorms.
BMKG forecaster Diah, in a weather forecast broadcast in Jakarta on Tuesday morning, stated that light rain is likely to occur in several major cities in Sumatra, including Medan, North Sumatra; Padang, West Sumatra; Tanjung Pinang, Riau Islands; Bengkulu; and Palembang, South Sumatra.
"Similar conditions are also predicted to affect Serang, Banten; Denpasar, Bali; Mataram, West Nusa Tenggara; Pontianak, West Kalimantan; Palangkaraya, Central Kalimantan; Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan; Samarinda, East Kalimantan; Palu, Central Sulawesi; Manado, North Sulawesi; and Ternate, North Maluku," she said.
Light rain is also predicted to fall in Ambon, Maluku; Sorong, Southwest Papua; Nabire, Central Papua; Jayapura, Papua; and Jayawijaya, Papua Mountains. Meanwhile, moderate rain is forecast for Mamuju, West Sulawesi.
The BMKG also warned of the potential for rain accompanied by lightning in several areas, such as Pekanbaru, Riau; Pangkal Pinang, Bangka Belitung Islands; and Tanjung Selor, North Kalimantan.
Heavy clouds are forecast for several cities, including Banda Aceh, Aceh; Jambi; Bandar Lampung, Lampung; Jakarta; Semarang, Central Java; Yogyakarta; Gorontalo; Makassar, South Sulawesi; Kendari, Southeast Sulawesi; and Manokwari, West Papua.
Meanwhile, cloudy skies are forecast for Bandung, West Java; Surabaya, East Java; Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara; and Merauke, South Papua.
