JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung denied rumors circulating about food stocks being disrupted due to protests that led to chaos in various areas of Jakarta in recent days.

This was revealed by Pramono after a coordination meeting of the Regional Leadership Communication Forum (Forkopimda) with the Metro Jaya Police Chief Inspector General Pol Asep Edi Suheri and Pangdam Jaya Majyen TNI Deddy Suryadi.

"I want to convey yesterday that there were rumors that food would be a problem. In Jakarta, food is sufficient," said Pramono at DKI Jakarta City Hall, Monday, September 1.

Thus, Pramono asked the public not to worry about the turmoil in the scarcity of food commodities due to the situation in Jakarta which had heated up in the past week.

"Even until the end of October, if there is nothing, the food in Jakarta is very sufficient," he said.

Previously, the Indonesian Shopping Center Retailers and Tenants Association (Hippindo) urged the government to ensure public security by ensuring the presence of safeguards at public activity centers so that economic activity and services to the community can continue without obstacles.

"Hippindo supports the government's steps in ensuring public security, including securing shopping centers, vital objects, as well as smooth distribution of logistics and basic necessities. This is important so that services to the community continue to run without interruption," said Chairman of Hippindo Budihardjo Iduansjah in his statement.

Budiharjo emphasized the importance of maintaining the sustainability of the retail sector and its ecosystem, which involves millions of workers and their families, as well as all other sectors that support the nation's economy.

"With dialogue, togetherness, and concrete steps to maintain public peace, we can strengthen national unity while ensuring that the economy continues to move for the welfare of the Indonesian people," he said.
