Free Transjakarta-MRT Services Until September 8, DKI Provincial Government Disburses A Budget Of IDR 18 Billion

JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has free Transjakarta and MRT Jakarta services for one week, from Sunday, August 31 to Monday, August 8, 2025.

This policy was decided by the Governor of DKI Jakarta, Pramono Anung, in connection with the disruption of public transportation services in Jakarta which occurred in the last few days due to demonstrations at a number of points.

"As I said earlier, starting from September 1 to September 8, whether it's MRT or Transjakarta 0 rupiah or free," said Pramono at DKI Jakarta City Hall, Monday, September 1.

As a result of the inclusion of public transportation services managed by regional-owned enterprises (BUMD) DKI, the DKI Provincial Government must increase the transportation subsidy budget to tens of billions of rupiah.

"We have to provide transportation subsidies because it was free of around Rp. 18 billion until this week," said Pramono.

Meanwhile, starting today, all transportation services in Jakarta have been operating normally. However, a number of bus stops that were damaged and burned did not serve customers.

Then, all MRT Jakarta stations have also served passengers, except for entrance A and elevator side GBK Istora Mandiri Station are still closed for repairs.

The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government noted that 22 Transjakarta bus stops, both in the corridor (BRT) and non-BRT, were affected. 6 of them were burned by an unknown crowd. Then, 16 bus stops were damaged and scribbled on due to vandalism.

Ramono revealed that the total loss due to the destruction of public facilities reached Rp. 51 billion. This was conveyed by Pramono after undergoing a coordination meeting with the DKI Jakarta Regional Leadership Communication Forum (Forkopimda).

"Regarding the estimated loss, infrastructure damage for MRT Jakarta amounted to Rp3.3 billion, MRT. Transjakarta approximately Rp41.6 billion. Then the damage to CCTV infrastructure was Rp5.5 billion. So that the total damage was Rp51 billion," he added.
