NTB Governor Urges The Public To Be Calm So That Development Runs Well

JAKARTA - Governor of West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Lalu Muhamad Iqbal appealed to his people to always be calm, especially during demonstrations, so that the regional development process can run well.

"NTB has just started to rise and build, we need a conducive situation, we need stability, and calm so that people can focus on improving welfare," Iqbal said as quoted by ANTARA, Sunday, August 31, 2025.

Iqbal invites all elements of society from religious leaders, teachers, ustadz, community leaders, village heads and hamlets, to neighborhood heads to come together to calm the situation.

He asked all parties to work together and work hand in hand to maintain political and social calm in West Nusa Tenggara.

"NTB is our home together, let's take care of it," concluded Iqbal.

Previously, on Saturday (30/8), a demonstration by student elements and the community in Mataram City caused various damage, from throwing stones and destroying the NTB Police office to burning the NTB DPRD building.

The NTB DPRD Secretariat projects the value of material losses due to arson and looting at the NTB DPRD building to reach tens of billions of rupiah. Two buildings were burned, namely a meeting and trial building, as well as a secretariat building.

Local police officers reported having arrested a number of demonstrators who burned and looted the NTB DPRD office.
