Masses Collapse Fence, South Sulawesi DPRD Office Almost Burned

MAKASSAR - The South Sulawesi Provincial DPRD Office (Sulsel) almost collapsed and was burned by the masses during a demonstration that led to anarchism on Jalan Urip Sumoharjo, Makassar, South Sulawesi, Friday night.

However, the South Sulawesi Bank office, which is in the yard of the South Sulawesi DPRD office, was targeted by the masses by throwing Molotov cocktails until they caught fire.

Meanwhile, the fence of the South Sulawesi DPRD office was successfully torn down by the masses until it pushed inside and broke the windshield.

In addition, the chairs and tables inside the office were taken by the masses and then burned in front of the entrance gate.

Initially, the masses threw stones at the Bank Sulsel branch office but recently threw Molotov cocktails at them.

The crowd also tried to damage the Mandiri Cash Pavilion (ATM) belonging to the regional bank but failed. The crowd tried to break the glass and doors, while the inside the room was also burned.

However, firefighters quickly arrived at the location, escorted by the TNI Marine Unit until the fire was successfully tamed so as not to spread.

From observations to date, the concentration of the masses is still on the two main routes, namely on Jalan Andi Pengeran Pettarani and Urip Sumoharjo with a fairly tense situation. There are no police officers on guard to dispel the crowd.

Hundreds of residents were seen taking to the two protocol roads to see developments. It was observed that two police posts were targeted by the masses at the end of Jalan Andi Pengeran Pettarani bordering Urip Sumoharjo and Sultan Alauddin.

Previously, the Makassar City DPRD Office had been burned down along with dozens of cars and motorbikes parked in the office yard. Until now, no party related to the policy maker has provided information.
