MUI: Demonstration Of Citizens' Rights But Don't Cause Damage And Anxiety

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) invites the public to stop anarchist demonstrations that cause damage and riots to the public.

Head of Information and Communication of the MUI Leadership Council Masduki Baidlowi appealed to the demonstrators who are still in the field to return to their respective homes.

"Demo is the right of citizens, but when it has caused damage, unrest, and difficulties to the public, I think it must be stopped, therefore, we also urge the demonstrators to return to their respective homes and do not cause difficulties for other communities," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, August 29.

According to him, demonstrations that cause riots will also affect people's daily activities, especially for the lower middle class who still have to earn a living.

"And I think it's important for the community (to earn a living), especially the people below, so that in this way the demonstration please stop, don't cause anarchy and damage, that's an appeal from MUI," he said.
