Masses Burn Polda Metro Jaya Police Post

JAKARTA - The demonstration by the All-Indonesian Student Executive Board (BEM SI) has escalated. They set fire to the Polda Metro Jaya police post (pospol).

The arson began when the masses damaged the pospol that felt right at the Polda Metro Jaya Building at around 17.50 WIB. They broke the glass by throwing stones and hitting them with bamboo.

From a distance there were also shards or broken glass scattered around the police post. Then, several people from the masses threw objects such as cloth and wood and tree branches into the police post.

The objects were then burned. The fire ignited even bigger. The walls of the police post also looked blackish due to the flames.

Until this news is ambassadored, the flames are getting bigger. In fact, there is one other hotspot right in front of the Polda Metro Jaya Building.

Previously, the masses also burned various objects in front of the gates of the Polda Metro Jaya. The action was also greeted by the screams of the masses who seemed to be banga with the big flames.

"Horeee... horeee," shouted the crowd as if supporting the arson.

Meanwhile, this demonstration brought three main demands, namely, asking the alleged perpetrators of the prosecution to be tried; demanding comprehensive reform within the National Police; urged National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo to resign or be replaced.

This action is related to the repressive actions of seven Brimob members who ran over online motorcycle taxi driver (ojol) Affan Kurniawan to death.

In the case of the death of Affan Kurniawan, seven Brimob members have been arrested. They each had the initials Kompol C, Aipda M, Bripka R, Briptu B, Bripda M, Baraka Y, and Baraka J.
