JAKARTA - The chairman of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, responded to the clashes at the August 28 demonstration in front of the DPR Building, which was chaotic with the authorities at a number of points, one of which the online motorcycle taxi drivers was run over by a Brimob tactical vehicle that secured it last night.

Puan asked the Police to be transparent and thoroughly investigate the incident.

"Deep condolences for the death of the victim in a demonstration last night, specifically for an online motorcycle taxi driver named Affan Kurniawan. May the deceased be accepted by Allah SWT," said Puan to reporters, Friday, August 29.

"Of course the police must be able to thoroughly investigate this heartbreaking incident, and must be carried out transparently," he said.

Puan also asked the injured victims during yesterday's demonstration to be given protection and treatment until they recovered.

"For the police or security personnel to secure demonstrations according to procedures and SOPs, without acting excessively, let alone injuring the people," said Puan.

Puan also ensured that the DPR listened to the aspirations of the people in the demonstration which was held on August 25 and August 28 yesterday. According to him, the DPR continues to improve itself and perform as representatives of the people.

"The DPR listens to and understands the aspirations of the people. Everything will certainly be followed up according to existing mechanisms. The DPR has a commitment to continue to improve itself," said the PDIP legislator.

Seperti diketahui, seorang driver ojol bernama Affan Kurniawan tewas terlindas mobil rantis milik Brimob di tengah aksi demonstrasi berujung ricuh di kawasan Pejompongan pada Kamis, 28 Agustus malam.

As is known, an ojol driver named Affan Kurniawan was killed by a car belonging to Brimob in the middle of a demonstration that ended in chaos in the Pejompongan area on Thursday, August 28 evening.

Based on the information, as many as 7 police officers were arrested in connection with the random incident that hit this ojol driver. The seven police officers are Kompol C, Aipda M, Bripka R, Brigadier D, Bripda M, Baraka Y, and Baraka J.

Now, those involved are undergoing examination by the Divpropam Police Headquarters and Propam Mako Brimob. As a result of the incident, National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo has also apologized and admitted that he regretted the incident.

In addition to the ojol driver who was hit by the police to death, it is known that there was also an online motorcycle taxi driver who was injured. The driver was named Moh Umar Amarudin.
