Clashes With Mass Demonstration August 28, 10 Police Injured, 1 Critical

JAKARTA - The National Police disabled 10 of its members as a result of clashes with the crowd around the Jakarta House of Representatives after the demonstration ended in chaos yesterday. One of them is in critical condition.

"There are also 10 members of the National Police who are being treated at this time, indeed one person is critical," said the Head of the Propam Police Division, Inspector General Abdul Karim, to reporters on Friday, August 29.

However, no details were conveyed on the injuries suffered by the members of the National Police. It is only mentioned that all of them are undergoing medical treatment at Kramatjati Hospital, East Jakarta.

Karim also said that if the number of injured police officers could increase or vice versa. This is because the data he received as of Thursday, August 28 evening, must be checked first.

"But we are still checking the gibbons, we haven't released them yet because the data is still confusing, we are still investigating, but the critical one is a member of the National Police," said Karim.

It is known that clashes between police and the masses occurred in several locations around the DPR/MPR Building, one of which was on Jalan Asia Afrika, precisely in front of Gate 1 of Gelora Bung Karno Stadium (GBK).

Monitoring at the location, the masses threw stones at the police with large enough size. They also tried to hit them with long bamboo.

In fact, the crowd looked three to four times at Molov. Luckily, none of them hit the police.

"Twoaaarrr," the sound of a broken Molotov heard from a distance.

The fire was seen raging in the middle of the road. The police again beat back the masses. Thus, the masses fled towards Patal Senayan and Jalan Asia Afrika in front of Senayan City.
