Goto Confirms Affan Kurniawan Mitra Driver Gojek Victims Of Demonstration Violence

JAKARTA - Ade Mulya, Director of Public Affairs & Communications of PT GoTo Gojek Tokopedia Tbk (GOTO) issued an official statement regarding the incident of the death of an online motorcycle taxi driver (ojol) on Jalan Purification - Pejompongan, Central Jakarta.

Ade Mulya said that his party confirmed that one of his partners was a victim in the incident that occurred on Thursday night, August 28, 2025.

"Based on the results of our internal verification and investigations with related parties, we can convey that Affan Kurniawan is a Gojek Driver Partner." said Ade, in a statement received by VOI, Friday, August 29, 2025.

Goto, through Ade Mulya, expressed his condolences for the death toll.

"We express our deep condolences and sincere sympathy to the families left behind, as well as to other Mitra Driver colleagues who also feel this loss. We have helped provide ambulance facilities, autopsy and post-mortem, and will provide compensation for the families of the victims as a form of our support. We are committed to continuing to assist the families of the victims and provide the best efforts we can make, while continuing to coordinate with the authorities regarding the handling of this incident." he continued.

Goto appealed to all parties to jointly maintain a conducive and safe situation for all.

Previously, the Chairperson of the Presidium of the National Ojol Coalition Andi Kristiyanto spoke about the incident of the death of an online motorcycle taxi (ojol) in the demonstration of the increase in salaries of DPR members which took place in chaos in front of the DPR Building and Pejompongan, Central Jakarta, Thursday, August 28, 2025.

Andi Kristiyanto confirmed that two ojol drivers were victims.

"The information we got, currently there are two ojol colleagues. The first one who was injured now in Pelni is still critical, that's from Grab if I'm not mistaken. And there is one who has died, confirmed to have died at the RSCM, that's from the Gojek driver, that was the one who was run over by the barangkuda earlier." Andi Kristiyanto said in a statement received by VOI, Thursday night, August 28, 2025.

Andi also confirmed that the victim died named Affan Kurniawan. While one other victim was critically hit.

"Yes, one died. That (second victim) is currently critical, he was beaten, yes, he was beaten if I'm not mistaken. And he is now at Pelni hospital." he continued.
