JAKARTA - Hundreds of students from a number of universities in Jabodetabek held an action in front of the DPR building, after the labor demonstration disbanded during the day.

They brought a number of demands, including urging the ratification of the Asset Confiscation Law to reject the increase in the salaries of members of the DPR.

"The first is about confiscation of assets. We demand that asset confiscation (UU) be approved," said a student from Pamulang University, Thursday, August 28.

In addition, students also rejected the ratification of the Criminal Procedure Code Bill. This is because the Criminal Procedure Code Bill is considered to give excess authority to the apparatus.

"Because there are several things that we don't think are appropriate, for example giving authority to the police as the main investigator," he said.

"As we all know the current police performance is not good, so when they become the main investigators it can be misused," he continued.

Then, students refused to increase the DPR allowance because it was too big in the midst of the national economic condition which was not good.

"We strongly reject the increase in DPR allowances because in our opinion this increase in allowances does not make sense, it is not appropriate to increase it," he said.

He said that the student who started coming to the DPR at 13.30 WIB came with his own demands and had nothing to do with the demands of the workers.

"There are different demands, we are demanding our own," he said.

"What we want to convey to the public is that Indonesia is not doing well at this time. So let's be more critical to update our country," he concluded.

For information, until 17.00 WIB, the masses were still involved in clashes with the authorities at a number of points. Among them are Jalan Pemuda, Gelora Bung Karno area to Patal Senayan. Then, the Palmerah and Pejompongan areas.

Meanwhile, in front of the DPR building, from VOI's observation, since 16.00 WIB, it has been sterile from the demonstrators.

Only dozens of policemen were on guard, having previously been beaten back by using a water canon.

As for the action behind the DPR Building or Pancasila Gate, although there are no masses who are still conducting speeches, the conditions are still crowded.
