Raided By Masses Of Labor Demonstration, The Front-Further Door Of The DPR Building Is Strictly Guarded By The Police

JAKARTA - The joint TNI/Polri personnel are closely guarding the front-backdoors of the Jakarta DPR Building to anticipate potential riots in demonstrations by labor groups today, Thursday, August 28.

From Antara's observation, since 09.00 WIB, it appears that joint troops lined up at the back door of the DPR Building, reinforced by a number of Mobile Brigade tactical vehicles parked not far from the Pancasila Gate.

The guard was carried out in anticipation of the mass of demonstrators if they were divided into two locations, namely in the courtyard of the Pancasila Gate and near the entrance of the motorbike.

"The points of the crowd are definitely at the front of the DPR building, but we are still with joint personnel on guard and on standby to anticipate," said a police personnel on duty at the back building of the DPR, Jakarta, Thursday.

Meanwhile, the traffic flow on Jalan Gelora towards the back door of the DPR was observed to be busy smoothly. You can still see Transjakarta cars, motorbikes and buses crossing the area.

Police are conducting patrols at a number of vulnerable points around the Senayan area. Security personnel continue to arrive to communicate to each other the conditions around the DPR area.

Demonstrations carried out by mass workers who are members of the Labor Union and Labor Party Coalition (KSP-PB) today were attended by thousands of workers from the Jabodetabek area and also held simultaneously in other areas.

The action is planned to start around 10:00 WIB in front of the main gate of the DPR/MPR parliament complex, Central Jakarta.

The action brought six main demands. First, remove outsourcing and refuse low wages (HOSTUM). They requested that the 2026 Minimum Wage increase by 8.5 to 10.5 percent.

Second, stop Termination of Work Relations (PHK) and the form of a layoff Task Force. Third, labor tax reform as well as an increase in Non-Taxable Income (PTKP) of IDR 7.5 million per month, remove severance pay tax, remove holiday allowance tax (THR), remove Old Age Security Tax (JHT), and remove discrimination on marriage women's taxes.

Fourth, ratify the Employment Bill (RUU) without the Omnibus law. Fifth, ratify the Asset Confiscation Bill and eradicate corruption. Sixth, the revision of the Election Bill for the 2029 election system redesign.

Meanwhile, Polda Metro Jaya has alerted 4,531 joint personnel to oversee demonstrations by labor groups in front of the DPR Building today.
