The House Of Representatives Urges The Attorney General's Office To Immediately Execute The Silfester Matutina Verdict

Member of Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives Soedeson Tandra asked the Attorney General's Office to immediately execute the General Chair of the Red and White Solidarity (Solmet), Silfester Matutina, who had been sentenced to 1 year and 6 months for a general criminal case in 2019. Moreover, according to him, the verdict against Silfester has permanent legal force or commitment.

"We ask for the execution, equality before the law. The law is clear, please execute it," said Soedeson at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Tuesday, August 19.

Soedeson also asked the Attorney General's Office to execute other criminals who had been convicted and signed. Not only against Silfester, who is also the leader of volunteers supporting Prabowo-Gibran in the last presidential election.

"We encourage the Prosecutor's Office to execute a decision that has permanent legal force. Whoever the person is. It's not Pak Silfester's problem, anyone," said the Golkar legislator.

When asked about the 'political backing' in handling the Silfester case, Soedeson was reluctant to speculate. According to him, any case that has permanent legal force should be executed so that it does not drag on.

"Let's not guess. If we suspect that, it will be in the clouds. We'll just talk according to the law. That the decision already has permanent legal force. So it must be executed," he said.

He also did not want to conclude that the AGO was selective in handling the Silfester case. According to him, what the AGO should immediately do is execute the judge's verdict.

"Let's not conclude. We ask that it be executed as soon as possible," he concluded.

For information, referring to the official website of the Supreme Court (MA), Silfester Matutina was sentenced to 1 year and 6 months for a general criminal case in 2019. The verdict has permanent legal force or inkrah.

However, until now, the authorities, namely the South Jakarta District Attorney, have not carried out any executions even though the decision has permanent legal force since 6 years ago.

Previously, the AGO stated that Silfester Matutina had no relatives or relatives on duty at the South Jakarta District Attorney's Office (Kejari). The statement also denied the news circulating about the reasons for the execution of the Matutina Silfester.

"We have checked, based on information from the South Jakarta Kejari, there is no relationship between brotherhood and South Jakarta Kejari employees," said Head of the Attorney General's Office, Anang Supriatna, quoted Thursday, August 14.

Meanwhile, regarding the application for a Review (PK) submitted by Silfester Matutina, the AGO stated that it would not interfere with the process of execution of detention against him.
