JAKARTA - Russia attacked settlements in Kharkiv with ballistic missiles, injuring 11 people. The attack came after the US President urged Kyiv to immediately accept an agreement to end the war Moscow has started.

Kharkiv Governor, By Synehubov, said among the injured victims in Kharkiv, Ukraine's second-largest city, there was a 13-year-old girl.

Kharkiv, located in northeastern Ukraine near the border with Russia, has been targeted by Russian drone and missile attacks on a regular basis since the start of the Moscow-launched war with a massive invasion in February 2022.

"The blast wave destroyed windows in nearby apartment buildings," the Ukrainian State Emergency Service on Telegram said in connection with the Russian attack on Sunday evening.

Witnesses Reuters saw medics handling residents on the road and rescue teams checking damage to residential buildings.

A 57-year-old woman was injured in Russia's guided air bomb attack in the northeastern region of Sumy which also damaged at least a dozen residential houses and an educational building, regional authorities said.

"The enemy continues to deliberately target civilian infrastructure in the Sumy region in a dangerous manner, at night," said Hryhorov, head of local government in Sumy, via Telegram.

There has been no immediate comment from Moscow. Both sides denied targeting civilians in their attacks, but thousands of people have died, most of them Ukrainians.

US President Donald Trump who hosted President Vladimir Putin in Alaska on Friday for bilateral negotiations urged Kyiv to make a deal with Moscow.

"Russia is a huge force, while they (Ukraine) are not," Trump said.
