South Korean Prosecutor Searches Ex-President Yoon Suk Yeol's Party Office, After Detaining Former First Lady

JAKARTA - South Korean prosecutor (Jaksel) searched the party's former President Yoon Suk Yeol headquarters today, Wednesday, August 13.

Citing AFP, Wednesday, August 13, prosecutors said the search of the head office of the People's Power Party to collect evidence of alleged interference from the former South Korean first lady, Kim Keon Hee in parliamentary elections.

Kim Keon Hee was detained hours after the Seoul Central District Court reviewed prosecutors' request for an arrest warrant for the 52-year-old woman.

The court granted the warrant, citing the risk of manipulation of evidence, after the prosecutor filed an 848-page opinion describing Kim Keon Hee's alleged "lawful action".

In May 2025, Yoon Suk Yeol was removed from his party position. He later decided to resign but continued to support his party candidates in the South Korean impromptu presidential election which was won by Lee Jae Myung of the Democratic Party.
