Regarding The Rank Of Honorary General 5 Retired TNI, PDIP: Not In The Law, Presidential Prerogative Rights

JAKARTA - Member of Commission I DPR RI from the PDIP Perjuangan faction, TB Hasanuddin responded to President Prabowo Subianto who awarded the rank of honor of four-star to five high-ranking retired TNI officers. TB Hasanuddin said the awarding of the title was not regulated in the law, but it was the prerogative of the president.

"I am not suudzon, I see that more in the TNI environment. For example, from civil society to Brigadier General, nothing and that is a form of respect. Judging from the laws and regulations, the Defense Law, the TNI Law, the Law on Services and Honors are not listed," said TB Hasanuddin at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Tuesday, August 12.

"But as a prerogative, the President gave awards to former soldiers he knew, why not? So if I look at it," continued the retired TNI soldier.

TB Hasanuddin did not question the awarding of the title because it was President Prabowo's prerogative.

"Never mind giving only the rank of 3, 4 star stars. After all, the President also has the right to, for example, amnesty, abolition, and so on. That may be much higher than that," said the PDIP legislator from the West Java electoral district.

TB Hasanuddin did not see the awarding of an honorary title because there was an element of closeness between President Prabowo and the five retired TNI figures. Like Lt. Gen. (Ret.) Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, who is Prabowo's best friend.

"I didn't look there, because there were some people too. I saw it not very close. For example with Pak Ali Sadikin, it was a different era," he said.

As is known, President Prabowo conferred the honorary rank of four-star to five high-ranking officers from the TNI during a military honorary ceremony at the Special Forces Education and Training Center (Pusdiklatpassus), Batujajar, Bandung, West Java, Sunday, August 10.

The five recipients of the honor are Lt. Gen. (Ret.) Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, Lt. Gen. TNI (Ret.) M. Herindra, Lt. Gen. TNI (Ret.) Yunus Yosfiah, Lt. Gen. (Ret.) Agus Sutomo, and Lt. Gen. KKO (Ret.) Ali Sadikin.

For information, Lt. Gen. (Ret.) Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin is currently the Minister of Defense (Menhan). Previously, Sjafrie had also served as Secretary General of the Ministry of Defense and Commander of the Army Strategic Reserve Command (Pangkostrad).

Meanwhile, Lt. Gen. TNI (Ret.) M. Herindra currently serves as Head of the State Intelligence Agency (BIN). Previously, he had been Deputy Minister of Defense in the era of Joko Widodo's administration, where Prabowo served as Minister of Defense. And is Pangdam III/Siliwangi.

Then, Lt. Gen. TNI (Ret.) Yunus Yosfiah, who graduated from the National Military Academy in 1965. He is known to have always been successful in his assignment of operations during his military career. In the government, Yunus Yosfiah last served as Minister of Information during the era of President BJ Habibie.

Then, Lt. Gen. (Ret.) Agus Sutomo served as Inspector General of the Ministry of Defense for the 2017-2018 period, and led the Presidential Security Forces (Paspampres).

Also, Lt. Gen. KKO (Ret.) Ali Sadikin, who is the former Governor of DKI Jakarta for the period 1966-1977. This legendary figure in the Indonesian Navy is known as a leader who is brave, innovative, and has a big contribution to the development of the capital city.
