Rano Karno Affirms Extortion Does Not Guarantee Escape Of Firefighter Recruitment, This Is The Reason

JAKARTA - Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Rano Karno revealed that DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung and himself have a special way so that the recruitment process for firefighters is free from illegal levies (extortion).

Reflecting on the recruitment process for public infrastructure and facilities handling officers (PPSU), where there are people who take advantage of the momentum of asking applicants for money with the guarantee of passing the selection, the DKI Provincial Government will tighten the selection of firefighters.

"It is certain that we avoid extortion. That's why PPSU, PJLP, we will confirm this. Yes, we heard, we know that in several sub-districts, there are (extortion) sub-districts," said Rano at DKI Jakarta City Hall, Tuesday, August 12.

Therefore, after the DKI Jakarta Fire and Rescue Service (Gulkarmat) undergoes all stages of selection, the final determination of applicants who pass the recruitment will be determined by Pramono and Rano.

Thus, extortion that occurs during the selection process for firefighters will not affect the results of passing or not recruitment.

"That's why the decisive ones will be the Governor and Deputy Governor," said Rano.

The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has officially opened the recruitment of officers from the DKI Jakarta Fire and Rescue Service (Gulkarmat) today, Tuesday, August 12.

Residents can start registering online or online via the www.jakarta.go.id/loop page. Then, open the registration page according to the intended city area.

Registration is valid for 3 days, from 12 to 14 August 2025. Then, the announcement of the results of the administrative evaluation on 15 August 2025.

Then, proof of registration documents and requirements on August 19-22 2025, and announcement of document proof on August 25.

Applicants who pass the administrative selection will undergo physical tests from August 26 to September 17, 2025.

Physical tests will be carried out by Kodam Jaya, located at Brigif 1/Jaya Sakti, Kalisari, East Jakarta. At this stage, applicants will undergo a physical fitness test A (run 12 minutes), freshness of Jasmani B (pull up, sit up, push up, shuttle run), posture (height and weight, body anatomy, appearance), and 25 meters of swimming.

After that, the DKI Gulkarmat Service will announce 1,000 applicants who passed the selection on September 18, 2025, followed by the signing of the work contract on October 1, 2025.
